The 20-story Hotel Alessandra, which is being developed by Houston-based Midway and Houston-based Valencia Group, has been underway for years. Its interiors were designed by Houston-based Rottet Studio, and San Francisco-based Gensler designed the hotel's exterior.
Another peek inside the Hotel Alessandra, which Houston-based Midway is developing and Houston-based Rottet Studio and San Francisco-based Gensler designed.
The boutique hotel will anchor Midway's improvements to GreenStreet, a redevelopment of the former Houston Pavilions that Midway and Houston-based Lionstone Investments have teamed up on. Hoar Construction is the general contractor.
Hotel Alessandra's construction schedule has been subject to several delays. When Hotel Alessandra broke ground in 2015, it was set to deliver in the third quarter of 2016, but the expected completion date was pushed back to late 2016 after demolition work began later than expected and the hotel was redesigned. The hotel's delivery date was then pushed to mid-2017, just after Houston hosted the 2017 Super Bowl, due to flooding and logistical delays.
Now, the hotel will be completed and will open in October 2017, a spokesperson for Valencia Group told the Houston Business Journal.
The hotel's foundation was poured in September. Upon completion, it will stand at 20 floors and will have 223 rooms. Some of the hotel's rooms will include expansive terraces. A reception area, bar and private dining and meeting space will occupy the hotel's second floor. The third floor will house a 3,500-square-foot ballroom and an additional 1,500 square feet of meeting and event space.
A fitness center, pool and spa will be located on the fifth floor. The pool will not be reflecting, as previously announced.
